Storage Auctions and the Lien Process

What is the customer auction process?

We understand that life happens—and sometimes payments are missed. When rent remains unpaid for an extended period, state laws require storage companies to follow a legal lien process to recover the space and unpaid rent.

Here’s how it works:

  • If rent is not paid, we make multiple attempts to contact you through the address and email you provided.
  • If we don’t receive payment or hear from you after the required time and notices, the unit contents may be sold at auction—either online or in person.
  • These auctions are conducted in accordance with state laws and government oversight to ensure fairness and compliance.

Keep Your Contact Information Current

It’s very important that your phone, email, and mailing address are up to date on your account, so you don’t miss important notices.

While auctions are a legal requirement, they are a last resort—and not something we take lightly. We understand that these items are personal, and we always prefer to help our customers bring their accounts current before they reach that stage.
